Nathan Shirley
Board Member, Recruitment Lead, and Community Relations Director
After graduating from Cornell University in 2017, where he played for the school's ACHA hockey team, Nathan began his role as a volunteer coach with our partner communities in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Thessaloniki, Greece. The next season, Nathan went to Central Asia, where he hosted clinics and established our community partnerships in the following locations: Naryn, Kyrgyzstan; Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; Almaty, Kazakhstan; Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This eventually led him to coach for a full season in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, representing HK Binokor in the Uzbekistan Hockey Championship (later incorporated within the Kazakhstan Hockey Championship).
In 2020, Nathan joined our Board of Directors, serving as a Recruitment Lead for our organization. Outside of his work with Hockey Without Borders, Nathan has been featured on the new television program airing on APTN called "The Good Game" hosted by John Chabot, former-NHL player and founder of our partner organization First Assist. In addition, Nathan is the co-founder of Goals to Score, a US college admissions counseling agency, and currently works with hundreds of high school students and families around the world.
